Volunteer Opportunities

Food Pantry Volunteers
Youth Pride is looking for volunteers to man the day to day
operations of our community food pantry. The food pantry is located in
our drop-in space at 171 Chestnut Street and is open from 1:00 to 5:00 Monday
through Thursday and 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday. YPI’s community food pantry
provides more than 1,300 pound of food each week to anyone in need in the greater
Providence area. If interested please contact Marilyn at (401) 421-5626
or marilyn@youthprideri.org.
Drop-In Center Volunteers
YPI is seeking volunteers for our Saturday drop-in hours, 10am-5pm. We are particularly interested in volunteers to join us to lead workshops (examples to date include knitting, drawing, yoga and meditation, bike mechanics, dance, book circles, etc.). If you have a particular passion or skill you would like to share with LGBTQQ youth ages 13-23, please consider volunteering. We are interested in hearing what you may like to share with us! Contact Arthi for more information.
Monday-Friday volunteers can work directly with programs, assist with Friday activity, do arts and crafts, run a wellness presentation or do anything else creative during our drop-in times from 12pm-8pm. We’re also in great need of volunteers to assist with office administration duties or development.
The process is simple and begins with completing the volunteer application and going to your local police department or the Attorney General's office so they can conduct a Background Criminal Investigation (BCI). Once YPI receives your BCI, a short informal interview is conducted with a staff member. During the interview, we’ll explore YPI’s needs, your skills and interests. Afterwards, you’ll participate in short orientation session to familiarize with YPI’s culture, youth and staff.
