"Way Out" Support Group
The “Way Out” Support Group
This is a peer-to-peer support group that meets every Thursday from 4-6pm. This group is peer facilitated. It is an opportunity for young people to talk in a safe place, where no judgments will be made. The group is structured as follows:
- A youth offers to facilitate the group, which means they will guide the conversation.
- We then go on to introductions, along with the favorite of the day. An example of the favorite of the day is favorite author or movie. The facilitator chooses the favorite of the day.
- Youth check in if they would like to—about their day, their week, something hard that’s going on, something good; youth can check in about anything they want to share with the group. The person “checking in” gets the floor for five to ten minutes.
- Lastly, other youth give feedback to the person “checking in,” in the form of questions, comments, or concerns.
- Everyone who wants to check in gets a turn!
Support group is a great way to give yourself the time and space to talk about what’s going on in a safe, supportive atmosphere. Come join in on a Thursday from 4-6pm.
