ABOUT QUEER YOUTH BOOGIE NIGHT:
Youth Pride, Inc. and the Met’s Trail Mix Club present the first-ever Queer Youth Boogie Night: An LGBTQIA+ Junior and Senior Prom. This dance, open to high school juniors and seniors in Rhode Island, will take place on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 in Pawtucket, promising a groovy night for young people to feel accepted, supported, and celebrated.
This prom started as the senior thesis project of youth leader Nicole Amaturo, a student at the Met who founded their school’s GSA—the Trail Mix Club—and an intern at Youth Pride, Inc. In her words, “It has turned into so much more with the help of our community — it is a symbol of support during very scary times. We appreciate your donations and time to help us provide teens with an event they can enjoy without fear or judgement.”
Following the success of the annual Born This Way prom in Newport, Amaturo found access critical to their event planning. “By keeping the prom close to home, we can ensure that queer students don’t have to worry about transportation or the challenges of getting to an event that should be a joyful and safe experience,” she said.
